23 of March 2020 Lockdown alert level 4 kicked us off for the start of a long pandemic known as COVID-19. People have different opinions on if lockdown was a good idea or a bad idea. We had time to learn from other countries mistakes. We had a lower death toll going into lockdown. It also gave everyone a taste of working from home. Now that's just scratching the surface.
New zealand had time to learn from other countries before COVID-19 came to New zealand. For example other countries such as japan got hit with a second wave. New zealand saw this and learnt from Japan's mistakes. Other countries with a similar amount of people failed to do what we did well. Those countries death toll is dramatically more than ours here in New zealand. We will continue observing other countries until we are completely out of this.
Now that everyone has had a taste of working from home it is statistically shown that after people have had a taste of working in the comfort of their homes they have noticed much easier it is then working in a office at a set time. They can move at their own pace. This is amazing because it stops contact with things that other people come into contact with. Ther for reduces the chance of a second wave hitting new Zealand.
We had time to learn from other countries mistakes. It is obvious that New zealand did the right thing by simply observing other countries and going into lockdown early. Those types of little decisions can save lives.
